Instructions for Princeton University Press Authors

Welcome to Princeton University Press. We look forward to publishing your forthcoming book.

If you do not have a book under contract with Princeton University Press but wish to submit a proposal for consideration, please see How to Submit a Proposal.

If you do have a book under contract and you are ready to submit the final draft, please select the set of instructions appropriate to your project:

Conventional Manuscript Preparation and Submission
(for manuscripts prepared in Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, or other word processing program)

Instructions for hard copy submission (via mail)
(we continue to accept hard copy manuscripts)

or

Instructions for electronic submission (via e-mail)
(we now also accept electronic submission of manuscript text;*** please send illustrations via mail)

***This method is not well suited to certain types of projects. If your manuscript contains non-standard ASCII symbols or non-Roman alphabets, you must follow the guidelines for hard copy submission. (Standard ASCII symbols are those which are found solely in Romance languages and German; non-standard ASCII symbols are found in, for instance, Hungarian, Old English, Turkish, Yoruba, transliterated Japanese or Greek, etc. Non-roman alphabets include Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Russian, etc.—any language that needs to be transliterated into English.)

TeX Manuscript Preparation and Submission
(for manuscripts prepared in LaTeX, AMS-TeX, or other TeX typesetting system)

Instructions for "Author as TeX Compositor" Projects (submission via e-mail)
(you, the author, will implement the final book layout in TeX)

Instructions for "PUP as TeX Compositor" Projects (submission via e-mail)
(PUP will design and implement the final book layout in TeX)

If you are unsure as to which set of instructions you should follow, please consult your Acquisitions Editor.
