This page contains instructions for preparing and submitting your manuscript for the production phase of publication at Princeton University Press.
These instructions were designed for projects written using LaTeX, AMS-TeX, or other version of TeX, where the author has contracted not only to submit a manuscript, but also to input corrections after copyediting and to implement the final layout as directed by the Production Editor.
You will need to prepare your manuscript to meet the following requirements:
- Manuscript Assembly Is Complete
- Permissions Have Been Acquired
- Illustrations Meet Quality Standards

You will need to submit the following materials:
electronic manuscript for copyediting
This is the most important file we ask for.
Please see Instructions for Producing a TeX Manuscript for Copyediting (.pdf).
electronic manuscript for design check
This is a single-spaced .pdf of your manuscript.
electronic files for manuscript text
Your .tex files and any .sty, .cls, or other helper files.
electronic files for all illustrations
These are likely to be .eps, .tif, or .tex files.
electronic duplicate set of illustrations
This is a .pdf containing only the figure files.

- copies of all permission documents
We absolutely need copies of any correspondence from rights-holders you have contacted.

We absolutely need your input to promote and sell your book.
Copyright Information Form
We absolutely need this information to apply for copyright registration with the U.S. Copyright Office. This form also confirms that the print and digital permissions for third-party copyrighted material have been cleared.
Jacket Design Form (.pdf)
This is your chance to share ideas about the book cover. (If your book will be part of a series, it may already have a preset cover design.)
Are you ready to submit your manuscript?
- Please complete the Author Checklist (.doc).
Please send all these materials (manuscript, satellite documents, art files, and permissions documentation) directly to your PUP editor or his/her assistant. If you are not sure how to best submit your manuscript and other materials to the Press—whether electronically as email attachments or via MassTransit or another program, or by mailing hard copy—please check with your editor and/or assistant.
