Virtual Event: David N. Myers and Nomi Stolzenberg at UJA/Federation New YorkAmerican Shtetl

UJA and The Jewish Week invite you to a special, literary event this January

American Shtetl: The Making of Kiryas Joel, a Hasidic Village in Upstate New York

Next in The Folio Series, we’ll welcome Nomi Stolzenberg and David Myers for a discussion of their new book — the first to tell the detailed story of how a group of Yiddish-speaking, pious Jews created a vibrant world apart, a thriving legal municipality that is unprecedented in modern Jewish life. Kiryas Joel, named for the charismatic founder of Satmar Hasidism, Rabbi Joel Teitelbaum, was incorporated in 1977 as a village in the Town of Monroe.
