Kathryn Paige Harden (kpharden.com), holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Virginia, and is currently a Professor of Psychology at the University of Texas, where she directs the Developmental Behavior Genetics lab and co-directs the Texas Twin Project. Her first book, The Genetic Lottery: Why DNA Matters for Social Equality, was published in 2021 and is the topic of this event.

In this conversation we will explore the common beliefs and myths about genetics, heredity, social determinism, and the history of eugenics. We will explain why genetic influences and differences are necessary components for a just society. And, we will advance perspectives that can reshape the our policies and practices that are embedded in our human systems to build a more equitable world.
