Princeton University Press hosts Ask UP this winter

PUP is excited to be the winter 2022–2023 host for the Association of University Presses (AUPresses) Ask UP website, a resource through which scholars and other members of the public can submit questions and learn about university press publishing.

Ask UP was created by the AUPresses Faculty Outreach Committee, comprised of members from university presses and other scholarly professional organizations. The site was designed to provide transparency around both the basics, and the not-so-basics, of university presses work, mission, and values. In addition to hosting responses to questions submitted directly, the site includes a FAQ section that covers everything from submitting proposals to promoting published books. Ask UP is hosted by a different press each quarter. PUP is delighted to follow 2022 peer hosts University of Arizona Press, Rutgers University Press, and University of Virginia Press.

Questions submitted through the Ask UP site through the end of December will be reviewed and answered, with responses shared on the site at the end of February. Led by PUP’s Literature Publisher Anne Savarese, a current member of the Faculty Outreach Committee, responses will be drafted in collaboration with PUP colleagues from across teams.

We encourage anyone curious to learn more about scholarly publishing to submit their questions via https://ask.up.hcommons.org/submit-a-question/. Please peruse the site first to ensure your question has not already been answered. We look forward to hearing from you, and to doing our part to make university press publishing more knowable and transparent.
