Announcing a new partnership with Erasmus

This exciting new collaboration will increase the availability of PUP’s growing catalog of ebooks to European library customers, through Erasmus’s digital platform

We are pleased to share news of a new digital distribution partnership with the European library vendor Erasmus. The initiative was led by Kimberly Williams, who heads up Princeton University Press’s digital and audio publishing from the Press’s Oxford, UK office. Erasmus has for many years been a valued source of library distribution for PUP’s roster of print books. This evolving collaboration supports continued momentum for the distribution of PUP ebooks, into library systems across Europe and the world, through Erasmus’s Torrossa platform. The company’s expanding digital footprint will offer librarians increased format flexibility from PUP’s catalog, a priority as the Press works to proactively grow digital availability of our backlist while maintaining robust digital frontlist publication.

Williams notes, “Our new collaboration with Erasmus increases the global reach of our growing collection of ebooks. Over 9,000 ebooks will be readily available to Erasmus’s library customers, broadening the reach of our scholarship across Europe and across the globe and supporting our mission to bring scholarly ideas to the world. Thanks to the ongoing work of our international rights team, many of our books are available in translated editions, and with the launch of this digital partnership we are excited to see the English language editions and translated editions available to libraries in one place for the first time.”

Ludovic Lautussier, director of digital sales for Erasmus adds, “We are delighted to add the content from Princeton University Press to the Torrossa digital platform, offering an ever more important coverage of academic content to libraries worldwide.”

As Princeton University Press prepares to celebrate 25 years in Europe, in 2024, we’re grateful for partners like Erasmus whose distribution services are integral to our global publishing.

About the Torrossa Digital Platform

The Torrossa Digital Library (developed and owned by Casalini Libri) includes content from a vast—and growing—number of scholarly publishers. Originally developed to support publishers from Italy and the Vatican City, Spain and Portugal in digital publishing, the digital library has evolved and expanded greatly over the last two decades, still placing great importance in the digital diffusion of original language HSS research in the Romance languages, while also considerably widening its scope. A 2020 collaboration with Erasmus Boekhandel enabled the inclusion of a vast range of scholarly content in English, French, German and other languages, from across Europe and beyond. Our partners in the digital library are important academic publishers, international publishing groups, university presses, research associations, as well as highly specialized but lesser-known publishers.
