We’re thrilled to welcome Jeff Deutsch to the Princeton University Press Board of Trustees. The first bookseller to join PUP’s Board, Deutsch is director of Chicago’s Seminary Co-op Bookstores, the first not-for-profit bookstores in the United States whose mission is devoted to bookselling. According to PUP Director Christie Henry, “Jeff’s partnership will help PUP continue to grow and sustain our collaborations with the bookselling community, whose resilience is as vital to our mission as our own and whose role in creating connections between publishers, authors, and readers is truly invaluable.”

A proponent of mission-driven bookselling and a longstanding and active member of the bookselling community, Deutsch previously served as director of the Stanford and UC Berkeley bookstores before moving into his current role in 2014. Deutsch sits on the Board of the New Press; holds Advisory Board positions for the Independent Publishers Caucus, Restless Books, and Bookshop.org; and maintains active involvement with Books Across Borders (formerly Bookselling Without Borders), the Great Lakes Independent Booksellers Association, the Association of University Presses, and the American Booksellers Association. His book In Defense of Good Bookstores is under contract with PUP and slated for publication in 2022.
