We’re excited to announce that applications for the second cycle of the Princeton University Press (PUP) Publishing Fellowship will be open from January 7 until January 31.
The Publishing Fellowship is full-time, salaried and includes benefits, including relocation if applicable. Fellows collaborate in either the acquisitions editorial department or in the digital marketing team, on Ideas, the Press’s original content blog. Though supervised and mentored by hosts in the Press’s Princeton, New Jersey office, Fellows have the opportunity to engage with staff throughout the Press’s global teams, including in our Oxford and Beijing offices. Professional development workshops, early career coaching, and job search support are integral to the Fellowships, as is the opportunity for cohort community building with Fellowship alumni. All PUP staff, including Fellows, have the option of working remotely or in office (vaccine and testing mandates currently in place), as PUP is a staff-choice hybrid organization.
Launched in 2021 and funded to run for five years, the Publishing Fellowship aims to address a lack of diverse representation across the publishing industry, inviting applications from individuals with no prior publishing experience, and from communities historically underrepresented in publishing, which Lee & Low data shows to be a majority white, straight, cis gendered, and non-disabled industry. Applicants from a diversity of educational backgrounds are encouraged to apply; in keeping with the intentions of creating opportunities with the Fellowship, we are not accepting applicants with advanced degrees.
The next Fellowship term runs from July 5, 2022 – June 30, 2023, with applicants notified no later than March 14, 2022.
