Princeton University Press is grateful to have members of the Press’s global publishing teams participating in programing at the 2024 UP Redux Conference, taking place May 15–16 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
This year’s meeting—co-sponsored by the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) and Edinburgh University Press—will focus on the theme of “connecting people and ideas”, an ethos core to PUP’s mission driven publishing. Indeed, we could not agree more with conference organizers that, “University Presses, no matter their size or business model, share a mission to educate, enlighten and inspire. Bringing new ideas, approaches and ways of thinking to a broad audience is more vital than ever in a turbulent world.”
During the Redux conference, Press representatives from the US and UK will participate in programming that engages questions of inclusivity, reader engagement, artificial intelligence, accessibility, and more. Panels and plenary addressees include:
Princeton University Press Director Christie Henry will deliver a Community Building Plenary addressing how we can ensure inclusivity triumphs over individualism, and artificial (and anti) intelligence, while still enabling future-facing exchanges.
Kimberley Williams, co-head of PUP Europe and the Press’ Digital and Audio Publisher, will join colleagues from Bristol University Press, Liverpool University Press, and University of London Press for a discussion about accessible publishing, inclusive content, and workforce diversification.
Caroline Priday, co-head of PUP Europe, will discuss university press collaborations, with colleagues from Bristol University Press, Manchester University Press, and the London School of Economics Press (LSE Press).
Kate Farquhar-Thomson, Princeton University Press’ Head of Publicity for Europe, will discuss university press trade publishing, covering peer review, publicity and events, audiobooks, and more with colleagues from Manchester University Press, University Press of Wales, and Yale University Press.
Our commitments to community, collaboration, and global exchange are foundational to PUP’s publishing and guide our work as we adapt to advances in AI, navigate protections for authors’ intellectual property, engage wide networks of readers, and continue to build and grow more inclusive publishing ecosystems. We’re so grateful for this opportunity to come together with university press peers from across the United Kingdom and North America for two days of listening to and learning from one another.
