Jan Eeckhout is the ICREA Research Professor at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona and has taught at University of Pennsylvania, University College London, Princeton, and New York University. His work has been widely featured in the media, including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Economist, and Financial Times. He tweets at @jan_eeckhout.
His research focuses on the macroeconomy, with a special emphasis on the labor market. His book The Profit Paradox: How Thriving Firms Threaten the Future of Work shows how a handful of companies that have reaped most of the rewards of technological advancements are exploiting an unbridled rise in market power and driving up the prices of almost everything we buy, from textiles to beer to prosthetics.
