Tomlinson is an internationally recognized art historian.  She is a renowned authority on the Spanish artist Francisco Goya y Lucientes and his era and the author of several books, including Goya: A Portrait of the Artist. Her lectures, in English and Spanish, have taken her to universities and museums in the US, Canada, Europe, Mexico, and Argentina.
